To support our photonics laboratory, we are looking for a student assistant to assist us with practical laboratory work and the development and implementation of experimental setups.
Tasks
- The area of responsibility could include, among other things:
- Organization and optimization of the laboratory
- Setup, conversion, and adjustment of optical systems
- Support with experimental work in the field of fiber optic sensor technology
- Programming for controlling measuring devices, especially with Python
- Microcontroller programming (e.g., Arduino, STM32, or comparable)
- Designing printed circuit boards (circuit diagram and layout)
- Mechanical design of simple components and assemblies in CAD
- General support activities in laboratory operations
Profile
- Current bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer science, physics, or a related field
- Interest in experimental work and the practical implementation of technical issues
- Initial experience in some of the following areas is desirable:
- Optics / photonics / fiber optics
- Python programming
- Microcontroller programming
- CAD design
- PCB design
- Independent, reliable, and structured way of working
- A certain degree of manual dexterity and organizational skills
- Willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics and take on responsibility independently
